About Liana

Liana was surrendered to Bluebonnet when her owner could not keep her. She was kept in a pasture without other horses most of her life, and she did not have much handling. She was part of the 2022 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge in the professional division and was adopted by her Challenge trainer’s boyfriend. She was returned in 2023 because she did not work out for them.

Evaluation and Training

Liana’s 2022 Training Challenge trainer worked with her to help her overcome her nervousness with people. She’s now good to catch, although she may take a few minutes with a new person, and she loads in a trailer. She stands tied and is good to bathe, fly spray, and deworm.
Liana’s Challenge trainer rode her in both English and western tack with a snaffle bridle. They rode at a walk, trot, and canter in both covered and outdoor arenas and in an open field. She’s been ridden on trails and over obstacles and hauled to various arenas for experience. She’s been exposed to flags and gunshots. She knows how to line drive but has not yet been trained to pull a cart.
Unfortunately, Liana hadn’t been ridden in quite a while when she was returned and had become pushy and difficult to handle, so she went to a trainer, Jennfier Skinner, for a training refresher. Jennifer says Liana is a big horse who will push timid handlers around.

At this time, she would do best with an experienced rider or a confident intermediate rider who will work with a trainer or take lessons with a trainer to help bring Liana along.
