BEHS 1258 – Colby

Colby was used as a kids riding horse but his complete training history is unclear. He has a lip tattoo like an OTTB but we do not know his racing history. Colby has spent several months with his foster home, who is also a veterinarian, preparing for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. His foster home/trainer has ridden him at a walk, trot, and canter in a round pen and arena, and he’s done well. She’s started him over obstacles and on trails, and she has hauled him to other arenas and to shows for experience. She says he can be looky and spooky on trails and in new situations.

Colby needs a confident, balanced, intermediate or above rider who can continue helping him to get back into shape. His current rider has been doing regular stretching exercises with him to help him build muscle and flexibility, and she advises continuing those exercises. She says, “He will give years of joy and fun to his rider under saddle in dressage, maybe low level jumping and trails”

Colby is competing in the Non-Pro Under Saddle division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Natalie Lord. Colby will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 8, 2022, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center.

Colby completed the training challenge and was adopted that very day!
