About Reno

Reno was removed from negligent owners by the sheriff’s department and then placed with Bluebonnet. We don’t know anything about his history before coming to Bluebonnet.

Reno went to a trainer in the summer of 2022 to prepare for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Unfortunately, he experienced some front-end lameness and was diagnosed with pre-navicular. His vet feels he would likely benefit from front shoes.

Through no fault of his own, Reno was returned in the Fall of 2025.

Evaluation and Training

Reno’s Training Challenge trainer withdrew from the Challenge due to Reno’s periodic lameness. He did say that Reno has the best ground manners and has clearly had some good training in the past. He is broke to ride and very easy-going. Due to his periodic lameness, he is available as a light riding horse – he could do some light riding around the farm or be a leadline horse for kids
