About Lahna
Lahna is a beautiful grade mare (possibly Arabian or Morgan cross) who was removed from negligent owners and later transferred to Bluebonnet. She’s a gorgeous mover who seems to enjoy saddle work. She’s been around kids on the ground and likes attention from them – in fact, she likes attention from anyone and is going to enjoy being part of someone’s life.
She was adopted in 2022 by her Training Challenge partner but returned to Bluebonnet in 2025 as they needed a better trained, quieter horse for their kids.
Lahna is competing in the Non-Pro Under Saddle Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Evie Reed. Lahna will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center. You can follow their progress on their Facebook page CLICK HERE
The Expo and Training Challenge will be held on October 4, 2025, at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, Texas. For more information about the Expo CLICK HERE, or for information about adopting a challenge horse CLICK HERE.
Evaluation and Training
Personality & Manners:
- Sweet, kind, and personable
- Easy to catch and halter
- Enjoys grooming and bath time
- Stands tied and for the farrier
- Gets along well with both mares and geldings
- Curious and intelligent, loves connecting with her people
- Calm in the barn, even with lots of activity and noise
Training & Abilities:
- Lunges at walk, trot, and canter in the round pen or on a line
- Ridden both English and Western at all three gaits
- Crosses bridges, creeks, and handles new environments well
- Introduced to obstacles and small jumps (loves to jump!)
- Currently does best with frequent riding or groundwork to stay focused and confident
- Willing, forgiving, and quick to learn
- With more training she could become a kids’ horse
Background & Care:
- She’s been in steady work (5–6 days a week: riding 3–4 days, groundwork 2 days a week) and is gaining strength and confidence. She thrives when she has a job to do and enjoys learning.
Why She’s Amazing:
Lahna has a big heart and an adventurous spirit. She’s brave on the trail, happy to splash through water, and is eager to pop over jumps. She’s still green: she needs to learn more about collection, roundness, and suppleness, but she’s well started under saddle and is eager to please. With continued consistency and more training, Lahna could become a fantastic all-around partner—and eventually, even a kids’ horse. This mare truly wants to be your best friend and leave a hoof print on your soul.
