About Oakley

Oakley was placed with Bluebonnet after being removed from negligent owners by law enforcement. He was emaciated when he arrived, but once he was healthy, it was clear he is a gorgeous horse with a lot of talent. His foster home says he’s a sweet guy who is good to handle and nice to be around.

Evaluation and Training

Oakley was raced as a younger horse, before he came to Bluebonnet. Once he was rehabilitated at Bluebonnet, he was ridden by a youth rider at a walk, trot, and canter. He picked up both leads at the canter when asked, and he was not spooky or silly, even when being ridden past things hung on the fence. His foster home says he’s quiet and willing. She shows horses in dressage, hunter/jumper, and at open shows and feels like he’s got a lot of potential in any English division. She says, “He’s a once in a lifetime horse”.

She feels he would be suitable for a novice to intermediate or youth rider. Although we recommend all novices take riding lessons on their adopted horse to have the best chance at a successful relationship together.
