About Blueberry

Blueberry was transferred to Bluebonnet from another rescue. They had taken him, and his dam, in from an auction when he was just a few days old.

Blueberry is a curious youngster who likes attention, especially likes kids, and is good in turnout with adult mares and geldings.

Evaluation and Training

Blueberry arrived at another rescue when he was just a few days old. That rescue handled him, started halter training him, and gave him a good start in life. He is good to catch in a stall and in pasture. He leads, stands tied, and will pick up all four feet. He had his first trim by the farrier in September 2023 and did well, although we recommend a patient farrier continue with him to keep building his trust.

He doesn’t really like his face pet/rubbed, but he loves to be pet on his neck and sides. His foster home has a nine-year-old daughter, and Blueberry follows her almost anywhere. She had led and groomed him, under supervision, and he’s done well.

He’s currently out in a pasture with adult mares and geldings, and while he’s low in the herd hierarchy he seems to get along with most everyone. He is also comfortable in a stall.

This guy is cute and sweet and is going to make someone a very nice riding horse and friend.
