About Sully

Sully was placed with Bluebonnet by a rescue who was overwhelmed. He immediately went into the 2023 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge's Non-Pro Under saddle division. He was adopted at the Expo and then returned because he wasn't a good lesson horse. He was then assigned to the 2024 Training Challenge's Non-Pro Under Saddle division. His trainer withdrew and adopted him, but she changed her mind and returned him a few weeks later.

Evaluation and Training

Sully is good to catch, lead, and load. He's gaited and a smooth ride under saddle. He's been ridden quite a bit in his foster home's arena. She also has trail ridden him a few times. At home, she's walked, gaited, and cantered both ways of the arena.

She says he can be nervous and tense. He has bolted on the trails and in an arena away from home, but only after she changed him from a snaffle bit into a Kimberwick.

Sully is very green under saddle. He's a nervous horse who needs someone with confidence to build his confidence, teach him to relax under saddle, and finish his training. With time and training, he could be a fun, smooth trail horse for the right person.
