About Artie

He was assigned to the professional division of the 2023 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. His Challenge partner worked with him on the ground as well as over jumps and he was doing well. She had to withdraw from the Challenge for personal reasons, so he did not compete. He did attend the event and was adopted by a family to be the daughter's hunter/jumper. They had a comprehensive veterinary exam done and he was cleared for jumping. Unfortunately, he was too big for their daughter, and she didn't enjoy riding him, so they returned him.

Evaluation and Training

Artie is a very sweet gelding who is great to have around: everyone who has met him so far loves him! He is good to catch, lead, and load. He stands well for grooming, the farrier, and fly spray.

Artie's been ridden in a round pen, arena, and on trails while with Bluebonnet. He's been ridden by an experienced young teenage rider over jumps and in an arena and on trails. After having about six months off riding, he was ridden by another teenage rider and did well in a round pen.

Artie could be a hunter over fences horses, low level dressage horse, or a trail horse.

He is pushy on the ground - he definitely knows his size, and he will take advantage of timid/less experienced rider.
