About Bambi
Bambi was just a few weeks old when she and her Dam, Tina, were transferred from another rescue. It was obvious Bambi had a rough start in life, given that her coat had numerous cuts and an open wound. The unfortunate beginning did not discourage this spunky filly in the least, however. From the start she ran around the pasture and played with her young friend. This exceptionally adorable filly is a bay with a tiny star, and it was her lovely head with large, expressive eyes that were the inspiration for her name. Bambi's sweet mom is a pony, so she will likely be on the small side.
Bambi is competing in the In-Hand 13 and Over Saddle Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Kelley Strickland. Bambi will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center. Background & Care:
She will need a confident, experienced handler who can continue her groundwork, refresh her skills consistently, and eventually start her under saddle when she’s ready.
Why She’s Amazing:
Bambi is the perfect blend of sweetness, courage, and curiosity. She has shown incredible resilience after a rough start in life and continues to meet every new challenge with a willing spirit. Her playful, social nature makes her a joy to be around, while her bravery and intelligence show she has the potential to excel with the right training. Whether she’s bravely investigating a sprinkler, calmly learning new obstacles, or trotting up to make friends with the biggest horse in the field, Bambi proves every day that she is not just a pretty filly.
She’s getting a nice start on groundwork, obstacles, and training, and she should be able to excel in just about anything her adopter wishes to train her to do.
