About Bambi

Bambi was just a few weeks old when she and her Dam, Tina, were transferred from another rescue. It was obvious Bambi had a rough start in life, given that her coat had numerous cuts and an open wound. The unfortunate beginning did not discourage this spunky filly in the least, however. From the start she was running around the pasture and playing with her young friend. This exceptionally adorable filly is a bay with a tiny star, and it was her lovely head with large, expressive eyes that were the inspiration for her name. Bambi's sweet mom is a pony, so she will likely be on the small side.

Bambi is competing in the In-Hand Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Jennifer Fosbenner. Bambi will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 5, 2024, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center. Evaluation and Training

Bambi is very trainable due to her beautiful temperament and willing nature. Best of all, she is brave, inquisitive, and trusting. This was obvious when, shortly after arrival, she trotted right up to the largest horse in the field to befriend him. Also, this cute filly was the only horse to ever jump over a stone retaining wall to explore a pool area. Finally, when another horse was being loaded in a trailer, she took the initiative and jumped in herself! With her friendly demeanor, she will be the first at the gate to be caught, haltered and led. She can be touched all over and seems to enjoy grooming. Bambi has been tied for a short period of time next to a "babysitter" mare. Several times a week, all four of her feet are lifted, so she is good (but not perfect) with the farrier. As is the case with any weanling, her skills need to be refreshed often. Bambi has been in a mixed herd of mares and geldings. She gets along with dogs and cats, plus she shares a pasture with ducks, emus, cattle, and the resident deer. Given gentle and consistent training, Bambi will be a lovely mare for some lucky adopter.
