About Stella Rose
Stella Rose was transferred to Bluebonnet for training and rehoming.
Stella Rose attended the 2024 Bluebonnet Horse Expo as part of the Training Challenge's Non Pro Under Saddle Division. She was adopted before she was due to compete, so her Challenge partner withdrew to let her go on to her new home.
Stella Rose was used as a lesson and play day horse at her new home. She did well for the first 6-8 weeks, but after her second playday she went lame. Her adopters returned her because they did not feel she would be sound for them to use.
Once she got to her new foster home, she was vetted again, and her vet said an old injury (she suffered in 2023) was causing her slight lameness. He gave her a steroid injection and cleared her for moderate work.
Evaluation and Training
Stella Rose does not know much but is sweet and willing. She is learning to pick up feet and trust her training partner. She will catch, halter, lead and load in a trailer.
Stella Rose's Challenge partner worked with her on the ground to perfect her basic skills and then started riding her. She said Stella was a joy to ride and great to have around. She rode both western and bareback, over obstacles, in an arena, and a roundpen. Stella Rose's adopters used her for lessons briefly and she did well for them, too.
Because of her old injury (see About section), she is available for moderate riding: no jumping, playdays, endurance, or strenuous trail riding. She has been cleared for pleasure trails, pleasure riding, and obstacle course work.
