About Lollipop
Lollipop arrived at the transferring rescue pregnant. She gave birth to a donkey foal, Gumdrop, and then both were transferred to Bluebonnet.
Lollipop’s foal, Gumdrop, will be weaned in mid-October as Lollipop has begun losing weight (due to him nursing). She’ll be ready to go home with an adopter when he is weaned.
Evaluation and Training
Lollipop likes attention and people, and she’s going to make someone a great pet. We don’t recommend her for kids right now, not until she’s learned to stop nipping people.
She does not like having her feet/legs handled and will kick when you try. After her foal is weaned, her foster home can work more with her on tolerating hoof handling (right now she’s too defensive and worried about her foal).
She is NOT available as a guard donkey: she has no interest in doing that job. She would like to be a pet and hang out with other donkeys and horses. She’s big enough to be trained to drive or to be trained for children to ride eventually.
