About Bon Jovi

Today, Bon Jovi is a happy and beautiful horse, but his journey to get here wasn’t easy! He was neglected by his previous owners and then seized by law enforcement. He was later transferred to Bluebonnet for training and rehoming. Once he got to us, we discovered he was lame and had a comprehensive veterinary exam with a lameness specialist, and he was diagnosed with navicular disease. He is pasture sound without shoes, but he needs shoes or boots if he’s going to be ridden. His long-term comfort is our top priority. But we also know that Bon Jovi enjoys people and is hoping to find someone to love him, spend time with him, do some riding when he’s comfortable, and enjoy him.

Bon Jovi is competing in the In-Hand 13 and Up Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Rylie Veale. Bon Jovi will be available for adoption on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Training Challenge and Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, TX. Evaluation and Training

Personality & Manners:
- Sweet, gentle, and respectful on the ground
- Stands quietly for grooming, baths, and farrier visits
- Gets along well with other geldings
- Easy Keeper
- Learns fast and enjoys groundwork (pivoting, trotting in hand, backing, bowing)
- Bonds strongly with his people and thrives with patience and kindness

Training & Abilities:
- Lunges at walk, trot, and canter
- Lightly ridden at walk and trot in the arena
- Responds well to pressure and soft cues
- Willing to try new things and quickly gains confidence
- Has been introduced to obstacles (like tarps) and adapts with reassurance
- Stands well for mounting, grooming, and handling
- Could be a nice light riding pleasure or trail horse or an in-hand obstacle horse, as long as he doesn’t have to jump

Background & Care:
- Diagnosed with navicular disease after a comprehensive exam
- Pasture sound without shoes; more comfortable when shod
- Riding should be limited to light work (mostly walking with some trotting, could also give lead line rides to kids)

Why He’s Amazing:
Bon Jovi is a handsome Paint gelding. He loves people and is happy to bond to someone and be spoiled —he’s a true heart horse. He greets each day with kindness and a willing spirit. He loves attention, learns quickly, and wants nothing more than a person to call his own. Bon Jovi will give his whole heart to the family who gives him the forever home he deserves.
