About Heath

Heath, aka Hershey, met his best pal, Little Eddie, at his caretaker's home. He had lived with her for several years, and when Eddie came to live with her these two hit it off. They're such good pals that when Heath's owner asked us to move Eddie, she asked if she could donate Heath, so they stayed together. We couldn't deny these boys' bond! Health has limited hearing. He does best if you clap to get his attention (just make sure you are where he can see you) and he really loves visual cues. He also does know some verbal cues such as "foot", "trailer", "kisses" (see below for all of those). You just need to be sure he can see you and is close enough to hear. He will back up to you - not to kick, but to get his hind end scratched. He also loves ear scratches. This boy really loves attention and hasn't met a person he didn't like (as long as they were kind). He really is a sweet donkey, and because he and Little Eddie are bonded, we want them to go together.

Heath is competing in the In-Hand 13 and Up Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Laura Clarkson. Heath will be available for adoption on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Training Challenge and Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, TX. Evaluation and Training

Heath really does love attention. He will give you a "kiss", something he learned in his previous home. Kiss is just gently presenting a nose to be kissed by a human. He also knows, and loves, the word "cookie", as long as it is followed up by a treat of some kind.

Hershey is halter broke, will load with patience (and he knows the word "trailer"). His hooves tend to self-trim, which is good because his former owner was told the people she got him from would tie him down to trim his feet. She said if you say 'foot?' before trying to pick up his foot, he will be less worried and may even pick up his foot for you.

He is a sweet guy who doesn't want to live out in a big pasture where he never sees anyone. He really wants to be a beloved pet who is part of the family.
