About Empire
Empire is a kind-hearted mare who came to Bluebonnet, after her owner could no longer care for her. Everyone who has met her says she’s a sweet horse who loves attention, petting, and to see what you are doing. She’s looking for a forever home where she can spend her days surrounded by love, horse friends, and sunshine.
Empire is competing in the In-Hand 13 and Over Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Jaydon Bowen. Empire will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center. Evaluation and Training
Personality & Manners:
- Sweet, kind, and people-oriented
- Loves the company of other horses — you’ll rarely see her alone
- Easy to halter and lead; walks politely beside you
- Sometimes needs a little bribery to be caught, but she’s learning quickly
Training & Abilities:
- Lunges at walk, trot, and canter on a line or in a round pen
- Enjoys grooming, bathing, and stands well for fly spray
- Ground ties and is excellent for the farrier
- Loads in a trailer, sometimes even self-loads
- Easy to halter and lead; walks politely beside you
- Has been introduced to obstacles, including tarps — she’s curious and cooperative
Background & Care:
Empire has been diagnosed with DSLD. She’s sound in pasture and comfortable working in hand, but she’s not broke to ride and should not be ridden now. She could do some liberty or in-hand groundwork, but she really hopes to find a home where she’ll be loved, cherished, groomed, and part of a family.
Empire is currently wearing front shoes because the property she is living on is very rocky.
