About Semana

Semana is a great looking horse and has plenty of potential. She is one of the lucky ones: she spent her entire life with her previous owner before her owner had to make the tough decision to place her with Bluebonnet because of her own health challenges. While she didn’t have much mileage under saddle before coming to us, she received good handling and has a naturally sweet and willing disposition. Semana is eager to learn, enjoys having a job, and is ready for a partner who will continue building her confidence.

Semana is competing in the Non-Pro Under Saddle Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Emma Mc Dougal. Semana will be available for adoption on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Training Challenge and Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, TX. Personality & Manners:
- Sweet, respectful, and eager to please
- Walks right beside you when led
- Enjoys grooming and stands quietly, soaking up the attention
- Gets along with both mares and geldings in turnout
- Curious but can be a little watchy in new environments—benefits from patient, confident handling

Training & Abilities:
- Enjoys grooming and stands quietly, soaking up the attention
- Will line herself up to the mounting block or nearby object to make mounting easy
- Catchable in pasture and stall.
- Currently being ridden consistently (3–4 times per week since August)
- Walk, trot, and canter in the round pen, arena, and open field
- Introduced to trails; handled her first off-site weekend trail ride with curiosity and try
- Lunges in the round pen and responds well to voice cues
- Trailers well—loads easily, stands quietly, and hauls calmly
- Beginning liberty work and showing a natural willingness to connect
- Consistently gives to pressure on the lunge line, maintaining rhythm and balance in both directions
- Soft and responsive in the round pen, willing to try and stay tuned in
- Willing to try new things (water crossings, trail obstacles, fly spray, wormer) and improves quickly with repetition
- Prefers a job—does best with consistent work, but can be ridden after a few days off (lunging first is recommended)

Why She’s Amazing:
Semana is a sweet-natured mare with a cooperative attitude and a big try. She’s the kind of horse who thrives with a confident partner to reassure her, and in return, she gives her all. Whether it’s quietly loading into a trailer, lining up to a mounting block, or bravely crossing water after a moment of hesitation—Semana consistently shows her desire to connect and grow. She’s not just learning skills; she’s learning trust, and that makes her journey all the more rewarding. She’s gorgeous and a pretty mover and has potential to be a nice trail mount, a show horse, or a liberty horse with more training.
