About Kiley

Kiley was picked up as a stray by Pearland Animal Control and then placed with BEHS to rehabilitate and rehome. She was severely emaciated when animal control found her. She rehabilitated nicely, but she had some major trust issues. More than one trainer worked with her. Then in 2013, a trainer took her on for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and did an excellent job with her. She wasn’t ridden again until mid-2015 when she went to a trainer for a tune-up/refresher course. That trainer decided to adopt her – the perfect pace for her!

Evaluation and Training

Kiley enrolled in the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge for 2013 with a professional trainer. Derek rode her in a round pen, arena and out in fields. They’ve worked and moved cows. He showed her to a 4th place in the 2013 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. After the Challenge, Kiley wasn't ridden much for a year so her foster home sent her to training with Jere and Jerene Johnson from March-October 2015. The Johnson's say she is doing well, and she's a fun horse to ride. She rides out in the pasture, you can throw a rope all over her. They have a dog who jumps up on Kiley's saddle and Kiley doesn't blink an eye! Although she will probably always need a confident, intermediate to advanced rider could be suitable for an experienced youth or adult. They say that she has a ton of try and will be a super fun partner for someone!
