About Peyton

Peyton and her foal, Scooter, were found estray. When their owner was not located, they were placed with BEHS. She was adopted in 2008 but returned four years later when she lost weight. As she’s an older mare, she eats a lot of food. She’s well broke to ride and no one has ever told Peyton her age (she acts much younger than she is!), no one wanted to adopt an elderly horse. In the summer of 2013, we placed her with a sanctuary where she’s being allowed to live out her life in comfort and luxury.

Evaluation and Training

Peyton is broke to ride and has been ridden by both children and adults with no problem. She's been ridden by and handled by children in her current foster home and has done a great job of babysitting them. Due to her age she’s available only for light riding: mostly walking with a little running walk and canter. No jumping, hard trail riding or gaming. She’s a sweet older lady who would love to be someone’s pet, best friend and light riding horse.
