About Jackson

Jackson was taken by the sheriff’s department as a stray and then was donated to BEHS. There is very little known about Jackson except that he has not been handled extensively. He was adopted in 2008, rehomed with a new adopter in 2010 and returned in 2011 when he began acting up under saddle. His foster home worked with him, began trick training with him, and then restarted him under saddle. He was adopted in early 2012 but returned a month later (through no fault of his!). He moved into a new foster home in November 2012 and the new home quickly fell in love with him. They've been working with him on the ground and have decided to make him a permanent addition.

Evaluation and Training

Jackson is an extremely personable horse who loves people. He is easy to catch and groom and has good ground manners. Jackson’s first adopter worked with him under saddle and he was proving to be a very good riding horse. His adopter changed the bit on Jackson to a curb bit and Jackson reared with him. The adopter became uncertain on Jackson and returned him to BEHS. Jackson has since been sent to a trainer and is past most of his “bitting” problems. He is a very intelligent horse so he needs a confident rider but should prove to be an excellent trail/ light riding horse.
