About Porter
Porter came into BEHS as part of a neglect case. He was underweight but recovered quickly. He was also well-broke to ride and gaited, so everyone wanted him! He was adopted quickly (in 2009) but returned in 2012. Porter didn't last long - just a few weeks after being returned, he was adopted by a family. He'll be a pleasure riding horse for several children. He was returned in 2018 after his adopter passed away. Porter attended the 2018 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and met his new adopter at the Expo! Congrats to Porter and his family!
Evaluation and Training
Porter has been trail ridden by adults and ridden by children in an arena at his previous adopter's home. His foster home says he stands quietly for saddling and bridling. He went well in an o-ring snaffle and seems to know how to neck rein and direct rein. He's gaited, but he moves back and forth between his four-beat gait and a trot. His foster home said he gaited better when he was collected and suspects that he'll gait more cleanly with more riding. She loved riding him and had a huge grin on her face as he gaited around the pen!He was adopted again and ridden by children but returned when his adopter died. He will be evaluated and placed back up for adoption soon.
