About Fawkes the Phoenix

Fawkes came to BEHS from a neglect case. When he arrived, he hadn't been handled much but he came around quickly. He attended the 2009 Bluebonnet Horse Expo, met his adopter and was adopted.

Fawkes was returned in 2022 through no fault of his own.

Evaluation and Training

Fawkes’ former adopter trained him to ride and logged many miles trail riding. She returned him when she got out of horses, and he hadn’t been ridden for about a year at that time. He went straight to a non-pro for the 2022 Training Challenge. The pair has ridden with western tack at a walk, trot, and canter both in and out of arenas. She’s trail ridden him and taught him to navigate obstacles. She says he gets very nervous when ridden in new places, so he’s going to need a confident rider who can be a leader when going new places. He’s an adorable guy and could keep doing trail rides, but he also has potential for endurance, competitive trails, or even showing with more training.

Fawkes The Phoenix is competing in the Non-Pro Under Saddle Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Krystal Cates. Fawkes The Phoenix will be available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 8, 2022, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center.

Fawkes completed the training challenge and was adopted that very day!
