About Aramis
Aramis is listed as grade, but very much an Arab/Arab type - energetic and a nice little guy. He was a young stallion who was gelded after arriving at BEHS, but he retained some of his stallion-like behaviors. He was adopted at the 2010 Bluebonnet Horse Expo to be his adopter's first horse. She kept him for many years but had to return him to the rescue in 2019 when life changes wouldn't allow her to keep him.
Aramis was part of the spring 2020 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and did well. He was adopted not long afterwards but was returned in January 2022 because he was too much horse for his adopters.
Evaluation and Training
After Aramis was returned to Bluebonnet in 2022, we sent him to trainer Sabine Lazo for a training evaluation and tune-up. She says he’s a very smart horse who is forward and has plenty of energy: he definitely does not act his age.
She’s been able to ride him walk, trot, and canter both ways of the arena. He still needs some work on cantering consistently on the correct lead, but he gets it right 80% of the time (it is improving as she’s riding him more and his condition improves). She’s ridden him English and western, ridden over some cross rails, and worked on some ranch and western dressage basics, and ridden him down the road. She’s had an intermediate rider and a timid rider on him, and he’s done well (with supervision). He would be a nice show, pleasure, or trail horse for an experienced rider. He could also do well for an intermediate or timid rider who rides at least semi-regularly with a trainer. And he should keep getting better with each ride!
