About Cassandra
Cassandra (or Princess Cassie as her new adopter calls her!) came into BEHS in 2009 as part of a large neglect case that involved four agencies. Cassie was one of the first horses we attempted to load at the scene, but she had other ideas! Sadly, Cassie's opinions of trailers hasn't really improved since then, either. She's a big, lovely Thoroughbred mare. She was adopted in 2010 but returned after she went lame. Her foster home had her vetted and we learned that it was the end of her riding days. That's ok, though, because Cassie stole her foster home's heart. Last night, he decided he couldn't live without her. So congrats to Cassie, RD and Pippa!
Evaluation and Training
When Cassandra came into BEHS, she was easily frightened and reared when she was pushed to do anything that she was uncomfortable with. She spent nearly three months with a professional trainer in the summer of 2010 and came home a completely different horse. Unfortunately since then she's been diagnosed with chronic lameness that leaves her unridable. However she is much easier to handle thanks to the training she received in 2010 and she gets along well with other horses, so she would be a good companion.
