About Abigail
Abigail was found estray with 5 other mares in Burleson County. The horses were awarded to BEHS when no owner was found. Abigail participated in the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge's In Hand Division one year and had a trainer work with her for the Professional Division in 2016. He had to pull out of the Challenge (no fault of Abigail's or his), but he found a friend who liked Abigail and adopted her. Unfortunately he had to return her in 2020 due to personal circumstances.
Abigail was a competitor in the Non-Pro In Hand Division of the 2021 Fall Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She met her adopter at the expo. Congratulations to Abigail and her new family!
Evaluation and Training
Abigail is a sweet mare who loves attention. She can be a little leery of new people at first but she warms up quickly. In 2013, Abigail's foster home put 1-2 rides in on her. In June 2016, she went to John Cesare to be started under saddle for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. John and Abigail didn't get to attend the Challenge, but has continued to work with Abigail. He says she was pushy when she arrived, but he's worked on her ground manners and she's much better now. He has also started her under saddle, but he says she'll need an experience rider.
