About Candy

Candy came to BEHS as part of a neglect case in 2009. Candy blossomed into a lovely, well-built filly. She attended the 2010 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and was adopted. She was returned in 2013 through no fault of her own.

Candy competed in the professional division of the 2013 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and placed 2nd in her division! She met her adopter, a teenage girl, at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo and was adopted shortly afterwards. She was returned in early 2016 when her teenage rider stopped riding her.

She was adopted but then returned three months later because her adopter didn't have enough time to ride her.

Candy was scheduled to attend the 2016 Bluebonnet Horse Expo. but she refused to load in the trailer to go, her foster home decided it was a sign that they should adopt her, so she did. Candy was returned to the rescue in September 2021 because her adopter didn't have enough time to work with her.

Evaluation and Training

Candy was started under saddle by trainer Amanda Sonier. She put several rides on her and had her walking, trotting, and cantering under saddle. She taught Candy to cross trail obstacles.

Candy competed in the professional division of the 2013 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and placed 2nd in her division! She adopted and ridden by a teenager for a few years before she was returned.
