Calamity Jane (CJ) was picked up right before Christmas as part of a neglect case. Her back hooves were so deformed, possibly from neglect, that they were curled under. Her companion, a donkey jack, had died before law enforcement arrived. Fortunately for CJ, rescuers arrived in time to save her and give her a second chance at life as her Christmas present. She was placed with BEHS where she gained weight and proved to be a smart and sweet little donkey. Her back hooves did not seem to slow her down - she ran and bucked and kicked in pasture. She was adopted by a family who has adopted from BEHS previously and goes to join Lancer as part of the Barnhill family.
