About Asteria

Asteria is the foal of Hadie. Hadie came to BEHS from a neglect case and was already pregnant when she arrived. Asteria was raised by her foster home who fell in love and adopted her. She later realized that she didn't have time to give a young horse and returned her. She was then enrolled in the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She did so well that her young trainer adopted her at the event!

Evaluation and Training

Asteria is now halter broke and leads. She is with a professional trainer for two weeks of ground work lessons. She bathes, trims, loads (or will be learning to) and handles well for a patient farrier and vet. She's very gentle and sweet, smart and inquisitive and gets along well with horses, donkeys, dogs and people. She loves to run and is fast! According to her foster home, she looks and acts like she has Arab-type breeding. She is pasture-kept but comes into the barn to eat. She's an easy keeper and is not prone to getting hurt. We expect her to grey out like her mother, Hadie (BEHS# 428), as she has grey hair mixed in her coat almost like a roan. She gets more beautiful every day. She spent July - October 2012 working with a teenage handler to prepare for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. As part of her preparation, the pair has worked over numerous trail obstacles and Asteria is doing great! She's going to be a joy for someone to train.

Asteria is competing in the 2012 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge on October 20, 2012 at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Austin, Texas. She will not be available for adoption until the day of the Expo.
