About Sonora Rose

Sonora Rose and several herdmates were surrendered to BEHS when their owner was investigated for neglect. She gained weight quickly, was started under saddle, and was quickly adopted. She was returned in 2013 through no fault of her own, but she had gained trail and riding experience while adopted and was snatched up quickly, but then returned a few months later as she didn’t work out in her home. She attended the 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Expo, met an adopter, and went to a new home. That home rehomed her to an approved adoper (per BEHS' rehoming policies) in April 2018.

Evaluation and Training

Sonora Rose was started under saddle in a BEHS foster home and then adopted to a father and teenage daughter who used her for trail riding. She developed a habit of bucking at the canter, and she was returned by her adopters. She spent two weeks in June 2015 with a trainer for a refresher, and she then went to a foster home in June to prepare for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge in October. Her foster home says she's doing great at trail riding, going over/through obstacles, and on the ground. She lets her granddaughter ride her and says she's a nice riding horse.

Sonora Rose is competing under saddle in the 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and will be available for adoption starting October 17 at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo.
