Nina was discovered neglected, injured and in pain by law enforcement. Her owners surrendered her, and a volunteer rushed to her aid when the sheriff's department called. Sadly Nina's injuries were old, untreated and very painful. She could barely walk. Our volunteer took her to the vet where she stroked her nose and softly talked to her as the vet examined her. Unfortunately there was nothing we could do - she had been left in pain too long. Sometimes the only way we can save a horse is to send them across the Rainbow Bridge to a place where they no longer feel pain, starvation or fear.Farewell Nina. I wish we had known you longer.
