About Brown Betty

Brown Betty and several pasture mates were removed from a negligent home and placed with BEHS. Brown Betty has been adopted and returned a few times, mostly because she's been outgrown by her riders or her riders have had to stop riding for various reasons. She's not been returned through any fault of hers.

Brown Betty enrolled in the 2019 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge non-pro under saddle division with Katelyn Chapman. Katelyn and her family fell in love with Brown Betty while preparing for the Challenge and decided to adopt her!

Evaluation and Training

Brown Betty can do almost anything! Her fist adopter rode her on several big trail rides and Brown Betty was always easy to handle, and stayed calm when other horses were frantic. Her second adopter was a hunter barn. She was started over fences, and she was used for lessons. She is a very cute jumper but would need an intermediate or above rider over fences as she gets quick at the canter.

Her most recent adopter was a teenager who used her for polocross. She's excelled at polocross - although it has made her strong under saddle and she's probably not suitable for a beginner without some retraining right now.

Her training challenge

She has potential to do just about anything and to be a fantastic pony for her next adopter!
