About Belle

Belle and two other donkey jennies were found abandoned. When they were discovered estray and their owners weren’t located, they were placed with BEHS in December 2011. When they arrived, they were wild children but their foster home worked with them and before long they were sweet and loving donkeys who knew that humans brought the good things in life (food, love, attention). These two girls are very attached, and we were fortunate that we could find a home willing to adopt them together.

In 2019, their adopter sold their ranch to downsize so the girls came back to BEHS. We would love to find them another home together. You can adopt Belle with her friend Jingle for a total fee of $400.

Evaluation and Training

Belle came to BEHS as an unhandled, wild donkey. Her first foster home worked with her and taught her that people aren’t so bad. After she was adopted she spent seven years out in the pasture with cattle and wasn’t handled much. Since returning to BEHS her foster home has been working with her again. They say she is very sweet and can be lead well with the aid of a butt rope.

It was also reported to us that a goat was killed by Jingle and Belle and they do not like dogs.
