About Red Sonja

Red Sonja’s owners surrendered her to BEHS after they were reported to the sheriff’s department for neglecting their horses. She recovered slowly, and she blossomed into a gorgeous mare. Her sweet personality shone through from day one, and its what won over her adopter. Her adopter had been searching for the right horse to become her first equine partner for almost two years. Red Sonja won her over, and she was adopted at the 2012 Bluebonnet Horse Expo. Sadly, her adopter had to move and was forced to return her in 2015. Red Sonja developed some periodic lameness, and she moved to a new foster home. Within a month, that foster home fell in love with her and decided to adopt her. Congrats to Red Sonja and Margaret!

Evaluation and Training

Red Sonja is a sweet, easy-going mare who is broke to ride. She's been ridden under saddle and bareback by both novice and experienced riders and has done well. She is easy to handle on the ground, and she loves attention. She also gets along well with other horses. Due to an occasional lameness in a back leg, she is best suited for work as a leadline horse, companion/pet, or light riding horse. She's such a sweet mare that whoever adopts her will be very lucky.
