About Bijou
Bijou was removed from negligent owners in a joint effort between BEHS and law enforcement. She was then awarded to BEHS by the courts. Bijou had been orphaned before being seized and was small and underweight. Thanks to the care of her foster home, she quickly gained weight and blossomed. She shone at the 2012 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and was adopted at the end of the event!From her adoptive home: ""Just wanted to give you an update on Bijou. She & Kaitlyn are doing wonderfully. We adopted her for her to be mine but I quickly lost her to Kaitlyn. Bijou placed 2nd in the Mares 5 & under category at our local stock show on Saturday. Bijou’s best friend is a young billy goat. The goat follows her step for step."
Evaluation and Training
Bijou (French for "jewel") is a real gem. She is a very sweet, trusting filly, who is growing more beautiful day by day. Her coloring is eye-catching, and conformation-wise she promises to be well-proportioned and muscular. Additionally, she has a beautiful baby-doll head with big, kind eyes. Bijou has a feminine look and will probably be a small horse. She has integrated well into a herd of eight horses and takes in her stride a variety of animals: dogs, cats, emus, llamas, deer, and geese.Handled daily, Bijou is smart and sensible. She will approach a person in a large field and be haltered willingly. Bijou leads and ties for a short period of time and does not hesitate to jump in a trailer. Bijou is competing in the 2012 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge on October 20, 2012 at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Austin, Texas. She will not be available for adoption until the day of the Expo.
