About Easter

Easter's dam came to BEHS from a neglect case and was already pregnant when she arrived. Easter was raised in a foster home, and he attended the 2012 Bluebonnet Horse Expo. He was adopted at the Expo and then returned a few months later. His current adopter had applied to adopt the year before, but she was unable to adopt the horse she wanted then. She met him Friday night and ended up adopting him! She returned him a few months later when he didn't fit in well with her herd. Within two weeks of being returned, he was adopted again. He was returned in 2017 through no fault of his.

He competed in the Non Pro Under Saddle Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and placed 4th. He was adopted at the event by the foster home where he was born - they hadn't seen him since he was adopted at the 2012 Bluebonnet Horse Expo! Congrats to Jennifer W!

Evaluation and Training

Easter's former adopters sent him to North Texas Central College to be started under saddle as part of the school's equine program when he was two. His foster home says that he loves attention but isn't always respectful of personal space. He stands tied but plays with the lead rope when bored. He leads, loads, and trailers well. He picks up all four feet and lets you touch and brush him anywhere. He stands well to be tacked up, and he longes well. He stands well to be mounted and walks, turns, stops, and backs.

He's spent four months with a youth rider to prepare for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Easter's rider says that he is a slow-moving horse who isn't interested in going faster than a walk or slow trot. He's quiet, not spooky, and a pleasure to ride. He could make a nice pleasure, trail, or possibly open show horse with additional training.
