About Gilda

Gilda was removed from owners for neglect and then placed with BEHS. She turned out to be a quiet, although green, riding horse. After she attended the 2013 Bluebonnet Horse Expo, her foster home decided to give her a home and turn her into her next riding horse. She was returned in March 2017 as her foster home had to downsize. She participated in the Non Pro Under Saddle Division of the 2017 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and was adopted by someone who met her at the event to become a YMCA camp horse. She was returned at the end of 2020 when the camp shut down their riding program. She was then adopted for a hippotherapy program but returned because the program says she was stressed by being a hippotherapy horse. She was quickly re-adopted to become a family horse.

Evaluation and Training

Gilda is a calm and quiet mare who has quite a bit of riding experience. She spent from October 2017 to October 2020 as a camp horse at a YMCA camp. Kids rode her in an arena and on trails, and she did a great job. She was also ridden by an inexperienced child rider at her next home and did well.

Her current home says she pins her ears when being girthed up and when being mounted but does not do anything else.

Gilda would really love a home where she's ridden and has kids working with her.
