About Encore
Encore came to BEHS in 2011 from a neglect case. She's a 2001, Thoroughbred mare who was raced as a younger horse. She ended up at a home who didn't care for her, so she was removed by animal control and placed with BEHS. Encore's had some struggles with an old injury, and we had to limit her to light riding. But she's found a job as a companion horse and possible lead line horse for a family. She left for her new home just a little while ago. Encore's adopters lost her to a tragic accident a little over a year and a half after they adopted. Our sympathies go to them.
Evaluation and Training
Encore's former owner said she was broke to ride, however we have not verified that. She has a lip tattoo and appears to have been raced a handful of times. We don't know if she has been ridden since then or received any additional training. She is looking for an adopter who needs a companion for a lonely horse After additional pasture rest, she may be able to be ridden occasionally but we can make no guarantees about future ridability.Her foster home says she's a sweet mare who is easy to handle, and she seems to get along well with others.
