About Pips

Pips' owner surrendered him to BEHS when he was investigated for neglect. When he arrived at BEHS, he really wasn’t halter broke and was scared of everything. His foster home worked to convince him that humans weren’t scary, and he came around. He was enrolled in the 2013 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge where he did well but he was still very reactive and didn’t get more than a few rides before competing. He was enrolled in the 2014 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and his trainer built on what his first trainer accomplished to get him going under saddle. While working with him, she fell in love and decided to adopt him during the Expo. Congrats Pips!

Evaluation and Training

When Pips arrived, he had not been handled much – and what handling he had was pretty rough. In 2013, he learned to be caught, longe, and carry a saddle. He's been ground driven and he ponies off another horse well. From July - October 2014, he was started under saddle by trainer Danielle Meyers. He's been ridden in an arena and learned how to navigate trail obstacles under saddle and in hand. He's a very sensitive horse under saddle who needs a confident rider who can bring him along.
