About Lilly Francis
Lilly Francis was discovered estray with her foal and a horse. When their owners were not located, they were placed with BEHS. Lilly Francis competed in the 2013 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge in the Foster Horse (donkey) in hand division. She was adopted at the Expo but returned in early 2015.
Evaluation and Training
Lilly Francis is a sweet and very gentle donkey although a bit timid and shy at first. It takes her a little while to warm up and feel comfortable in new places. Lilly Francis competed in the 2013 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge, winning the in-hand division. She learned to lead, load, and navigate trail obstacles for the competition. She was returned in 2015 and sent to training with donkey and mule trainer Kris Murphy in January-February 2015. While at training, she's re-learning to load, she's learning to have her hooves handled and trimmed, and is working in hand. She would like a home with other donkeys and someone who will spend time with her. She's too small to be a riding donkey, but she could be trained to drive or her adopter could do donkey agility with her.
Kris says Lilly Francis is a very affectionate donkey who loves getting pet, "I am pretty sure she would stand there all day and be hugged or scratched, if someone would oblige her. She is so very affectionate. "
