About Antonio

Antonio was removed from negligent owners and placed with BEHS by animal control. Antonio competed in the In Hand division of the 2014 and 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenges. He was adopted in 2016 by someone who met him at the 2016 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and then returned in 2019 when his children stopped riding. Antonio them competed in the 2019 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo and met his adopter. Congratulations Antonio!

Evaluation and Training

Antonio hadn't been handled much when he arrived at BEHS, but his foster home has taught him to be caught and haltered, to lead, and to stand for the farrier. He competed in hand in the 2014 and 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenges. He was trained to navigate obstacles in hand for the competition.

He was adopted and started under saddle by his adopters. He was ridden mostly for pleasure. His adopters rode him in parades - even night parades with lights on him! They took him on several several trail rides and over obstacle courses as well. They also took him to many 4-H events and a stock horse clinic. Antonio's adopters returned him due to no fault of his own.

Antonio is not always trusting with adults, but he's been good with kids in multiple homes. To take a look at the video of him working with his young trainer click here. He's got a lot of potential to make an awesome little pony for some lucky kid!
