About Fancy Dancer

Fancy Dancer was found estray. When no one claimed her, she was placed with BEHS. She competed in the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge's professional division in 2014 and did well. Due to some occasional lameness, it took her a while to find her adopter, but she was adopted in August 2015 but returned a month later because she did not get along well with the other horses in her new home. She attended the 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Training Challenge, met an adopter, and went to a new home! She was returned in 2018 when she was not working out for her adopter. She had developed some lameness issues, but her foster home found she was a nice riding horse on her good days. She was adopted to be a friend and companion!

Evaluation and Training

Fancy Dancer had not been handled much prior to coming to BEHS and was leery of all new things when she arrived. Her foster home worked with her and she learned to stand for haltering, grooming, farrier work, and vet care. She also learned to lead and load well. From August-October 2014 she was with trainer Rex Studnicka to be started under saddle for the professional division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She's learned to walk, jog, and lope under saddle.In November of 2018, she was diagnosed with navicular. Her veterinarian suggested front shoes and anti-infammatories if she is ridden. Her current foster home has ridden her at a walk and trot and thinks she would be nice for easy/short trail rides or pleasure riding. She says that Fancy Dancer is quiet and stands still to get on her. She stands tied great. Is very good to load and unloading in the trailer. She gets along well with her foster home's mare and is a kind, sweet mare who is easy to get along with.
