About Sawyer

Sawyer was removed from negligent owners and placed with BEHS by law enforcement.

Sawyer competed in and placed 5th in the professional division at the 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She was adopted at the 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Expo by his trainer. Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society took him back in 2019 when his adopter broke her contract.

Sawyer enrolled in the 2019 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge non-pro under saddle division with Tori Jacobson. Tori and her family fell in love with Sawyer while preparing for the Challenge and decided to adopt him!

Evaluation and Training

Sawyer has had a great deal of training while with Bluebonnet. He is easy to catch, lead, and load. He stands for fly spraying, grooming, baths, and farrier work. A previous adopter rode him around roping arenas and used him to turn back cows. After he came back to Bluebonnet, his foster home rode him and found him nicely broke to ride. He isn’t spooky, he is willing to navigate obstacles, and he has an excellent whoa. His Training Challenge partner for 2019 rode him in a parade, and he handled the parade chaos well! He prefers walking and trotting to loping – he’s pretty lazy! He would make someone a really nice trail horse or pleasure horse.
