About Dory

Dory was placed with BEHS when her owner could no longer keep her. Dory competed in the professional division and placed 4th at the 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She was adopted at the 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Expo by someone who met her while at her trainer's facility.

Evaluation and Training

Dory is a beautiful, stout mare. She's a Hafflinger/Quarter Horse cross. She's smart and loves attention, but she's also been spoiled and can be pushy. She is young and will test new handlers. She leads, loads, and stands tied. Her former owner had saddled her at age two and may have sat on her.Dory spent June-October 2015 with trainer Shauna Pollan to prepare for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Shauna started her under saddle and hauled her to several ranches and facilities around her area to ride. She says that Dory is very laid back but also willing to go. She loves the ranch type trails and handles trail and man-made obstacles easily. She's still green, but she's doing great and should make someone an awesome trail horse.
