About Vanessa

Vanessa was placed with Bluebonnet when her owner couldn't care for her. She competed in the Professional Division of the Training Challenge and was adopted. Her adopter returned her in 2024 because she did not work out for him.

Vanessa has been very dominant in her adopter's herd and at a foster home - kicking other horses. When at the trainers, she seemed to do better with other horses.

Through no fault of her own, Vanessa was returned in October of 2024.

Evaluation and Training

Vanessa is a big, stout horse who looks like a Quarter Horse show horse, and she could definitely do just about anything her adopter wanted to trainer her for.

In 2015, she was started under saddle by Amanda Sonier, and Amanda rode her in several arenas and over trail obstacles. At the time, Amanda said Vanessa particularly liked being outside the arena, going places, and seeing new things.

She was adopted in 2015, and she wasn't ridden much during that time. When she was returned, we sent her to a trainer for a refresher course. She is green but did well under saddle and seems happiest when she's ridden/worked with consistently.

Since she's green and can be dominant, she needs a confident intermediate or above rider who will continue working with her.
