About Gulliver
Gulliver was found astray and placed with Bluebonnet by animal control. After he was rehabilitated, he went to trainer Hilary LoBue to be evaluated. She discovered he was nicely trained to ride and he was quickly adopted in March 2017 by a pre-approved adopter who had been waiting for just the right horse. She returned him in April 2017. He was re-adopted in December 2017 as a pet!
Evaluation and Training
Gulliver is a big sweet boy that is solid, quiet and friendly, gets along with mares, and is easy to catch and halter. He stands well for grooming and blanketing. He knows how to lunge. His foster says he's easy to saddle and bridle.
Gulliver went to trainer Hilary LoBue for an evaluation in February 2016. On his first day, she said that he tied, picked up his feet, stood for grooming, stood for being tacked up and bridled easy. He did not stand still for mounting, but Hilary has worked on this and after 2-3 training sessions he's standing still for mounting. He may try to test a new rider at first. He does want to move off as soon as someone is in the saddle, but that behavior is improving as well.
Hilary has ridden Gulliver at a walk, trot, and canter. She says he steers well, backs well, and halts well. She's ridden him over man-made trail obstacles in the arena. In the arena, he's a confident horse, but when she took him out in the field and woods, he was nervous when ridden alone but more confident when he went out a second time with another horse.
He's been ridden both English and western, but he's definitely a more English horse. He has a huge, ground covering trot that is hard to sit. He has great potential in many English discplines.
She said that Gulliver is beautiful and generally gentle. He also has a kind eye.
