About Mickey Blue Eyes
Mickey Blue Eyes’ dam, Co-Co Lady, was pregnant when she arrived at Bluebonnet from a neglect case. Mickey was born safely in the care of an experienced foster home, where he received gentle, consistent handling from the very beginning. As a youngster, he was adopted to grow up as someone’s future riding pony. Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, Mickey Blue Eyes was returned in May 2025, entrusting us with the opportunity to find his next loving home.
Mickey Blue Eyes is an adorable, pinto pony. He’s smart and quick to learn, and he’s longing to become someone’s best pal.
Mickey Blue Eyes is competing in the Professional Division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge with Karly Sorenson. Mickey Blue Eyes will be available for adoption on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Training Challenge and Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, TX. Personality & Manners:
- Curious and playful, enjoys exploring his surroundings.
- Affectionate and enjoys gentle attention.
- Enjoys playing in water and drinking from a hose.
- Friendly and cooperative on the ground.
- Likes spending time with other horses.
Training & Abilities:
- Walks politely on the lead, staying right next to you.
- Easy to catch, halter, and load in a trailer.
- Stands calmly for hoof handling—you can hold his feet for extended periods.
- Working on standing patiently tied at the trailer and for baths.
- Accepts a Western saddle; currently ridden in a hackamore.
- Ridden in arena and open field at walk and trot.
- Green under saddle; sensitive/slightly spooky on his right side.
- Introduced to obstacles, trails, and other arenas.
- Lunges well at walk, trot, and canter.
- Very desensitized to stick and string and props.
- Trainer works with him 2–3 times per week.
Background & Care:
- Occasionally he spooks under saddle and has bucked at a canter with his trainer – although that could be because he’s still green and learning to carry himself
Why He’s Amazing:
Mickey is a sweet, willing, and intelligent young pony with a playful personality. He is very cooperative on the ground and eager to learn, making him a fun project for an experienced handler who is patient and consistent. With continued training and guidance, Mickey has the potential to become a versatile and loyal partner, whether on trails, in the arena, or just enjoying time with his human family.
