Who doesn’t love a good adoption story? I know I do!

Iris came to us last year from a neglect case. When she arrived, she had a badly injured eye and was still underweight.  But we quickly got her eye treated and got her weight up, and she went off to a trainer! She was adopted by a family at our Bluebonnet Horse Expo but returned when their daughter headed off to college.

This fall, she went home with a new family as a foster to adopt – we thought she would end up staying, but she wasn’t a good fit.  That’s ok, though, because that’s why we’re here!  Fortunately, her perfect adopter was just waiting to find a horse like her.

He’s been working with her both on the ground and in a round pen, and so far he and Iris are hitting it off well.  He believes she’ll make a great horse with just a little training – and we do, too! Her adopter says, “Thank you for bringing us together!”

And we reply that both he and Iris are welcome.  THIS is the best part of rescue work: pairing great horses and loving humans and seeing them blossom together.
