About Shiner
Shiner was surrendered to Bluebonnet when his owner wasn't able to care for him due to her health. Shiner is curious, affectionate, and extremely smart. When he wants attention, he will nibble you with his lips and start licking you if you don’t respond in kind. Once you win his trust, he is super motivated to please.
Shiner met his adopter at the Fall 2021 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. He met his adopters there! Congratulations to Shiner and his new family!
Evaluation and Training
Shiner had little if any handling or training prior to coming to Bluebonnet. Shiner went to SpiritHorse Horsemanship School under the care and training of Jeremiah Bowen for the Spring 2021 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. Unfortunately, Shiner needed some pasture rest and had to withdraw from the Challenge but has returned for the Fall 2021 Challenge. Jeremiah has worked with Shiner on the ground quite a bit and worked on a lot of desensitization. He’s ridden him a few times, but Shiner is still very green and is going to need an experienced rider to continue his training.
