About Flame
Flame is a striking Arabian sorrel gelding with a sweet face and a long, flowing forelock. Full of energy and curiosity, he loves playing with his pasture mates and exploring his surroundings. Flame thrives on attention and is eager to connect with people, making him a horse who truly deserves someone to dote on him while keeping him out of mischief. Flame has shown great potential during groundwork, including lunging, trotting, and cantering, and is willing and eager to learn more.
Before he came to Bluebonnet, he was owned all of his life by his breeder. You wouldn’t know it to meet him now, but because his breeder was older and had health problems, Flame did not get much handling before coming to the rescue. He’s come a long way in a relatively short period of time, and he’s ready for new adventures.

Evaluation and Training
Personality & Manners:
- Curious, playful, and social
- Enjoys attention and human interaction
- Smart and willing to learn
- Tolerant and adaptable with other horses
- Been pastured in a mixed herd of mares and geldings
Training & Abilities:
- Not yet started under saddle, but groundwork well underway
- Can be caught in a stall or paddock and leads well
- Loads into a trailer independently
- Stands tied for grooming and handling, including bathing and hoof care (front feet easily, back feet may require sedation for trimming)
- Familiar with wearing a western saddle and a snaffle bit
- Lunges at walk, trot, and canter
- Was ponied going on some trails and did very well. Even when he met cows
Background & Care:
- Currently capable of in-hand work with a novice handler
- Flame has a swayback, which does not appear to cause him discomfort but may complicate saddle fitting
- Ideal as a companion horse, in-hand obstacle/agility horse, liberty horse, or with a dedicated adopter willing to carefully fit a saddle and start him under saddle.
- With the right saddle, Flame could be started under saddle
Why He’s Amazing:
Flame’s combination of curiosity, intelligence, and affectionate personality makes him a one-of-a-kind horse. He loves to explore, play, and bond with people, and with the right adopter, he has the potential to thrive in multiple disciplines, from in-hand work to eventually under-saddle adventures.
