About Trojan

Trojan was transferred to us from another rescue organization for training and rehoming.

Trojan was assigned to a professional trainer for the 2023 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She did not get as far as she would like with him and decided to withdraw from the Challenge. You can see what they accomplished on his Facebook page here. CLICK HERE

Trojan will be showcased and available for adoption at the Training Challenge competition on October 4, 2025, during the Bluebonnet Horse Expo at the Williamson County Expo Center.

The Expo and Training Challenge will be held on October 4, 2025, at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor, Texas. For more information about the Expo CLICK HERE, or for information about adopting a challenge horse CLICK HERE.

Evaluation and Training

Meet Trojan, 7yr 16.0hh TB type gelding. Trojan has spent the last year in training and rehab at JRS Performance horses becoming a reliable and capable partner. Trojan has shown some good promise to become a nice sport horse as he is willing and bold with 3 light, and quality gaits. He has been free jumped to 3ft and done cross rails under saddle. He is learning about connection and roundness while maintaining rhythm and relaxation. Trojan would do best for an intermediate rider, as he has a performance horse mentality- meaning he is light and responsive and takes even lighter cue's...quite literally.

He would love to be in a program where an experienced trainer in dressage and/or jumping, who could over see his progression and help see him and his new partner reach his big potential. His adopter should be advised he is a cribber and does better in a pasture due to this habit. He has had a couple things done, in the way of vet maintenance and these things can be discussed with Jennifer Skinner, his trainer.

In the beginning of his journey with us he was a bit of a hard nut to crack but once we found out all that he needed from us to get his body back on track he has really bloomed to show us he has great potential. We are happy to present him at the 2025 Bluebonnet Expo to try to find a home that can really take him and go do all the cool things we know he is capable of.
