About Mack

Mack was donated to Bluebonnet for rehab and rehoming, when his owner could no longer care for him.

Mack's previous owner purchased him from a "kill pen". He was supposedly an Amish driving/work horse. He arrived emaciated, and she began his rehab before transferring him to Bluebonnet when she couldn't continue caring for him.

Evaluation and Training

Mack is a big guy who knows his size, and he can be a bit pushy at times. Fortunately, he's sweet and seems to love attention. He's good to catch and lead. He'll walk into a horse trailer if lead (Although he needs a big trailer!).

He stands tied, loves to be groomed, and stands for baths and fly spray. He's not comfortable having his legs handled, but his foster home is working on it and he's improving. He may, though, need to be sedated for the farrier for a while.

He's been lunged at a walk in the round pen, and he doesn't really seem to know what lunging is. His foster home does not have tack big enough to fit him, so we cannot verify whether or not he's broke to ride or drive.
